About Metcat Finna

MetCat Finna is a web service provided to you by Metropolia library.

There are two separate search features in MetCat Finna: Libary Collections and International e-resources search.

Library Collections search

With Library Collections search you can search for publications in the following collections

  • 3AMK (Metropolia, Haaga-Helia and Laurea) libraries' printed collections
  • Metropolia library's electronic materials. Login with your Metropolia ID is required to access licensed databases and e-resources.
  • Metropolia's theses and publications in Theseus
  • Journal.fi (Finnish Scolarly Journals Online) articles. Some journals have embargo of max. one year.
  • Aaltodoc Publication Archive's contents (theses, reports, articles). Access to full-text files of bachelor's theses is restricted
  • Publications in Valto Institutional Repository for the Government
  • Library of Open Educational Resources materials (aoe.fi)
  • International e-resources search

    With International e-resources search you'll find

  • Metropolia's licensed e-resources (via Central Discovery Index CDI and sfx link resolver)
  • Open Access materials

  • All e-books, full text articles and other e-resources are not included in the International e-resources search. Use databases if you need to do a more accurate search. Licensed materials require login with Metropolia id and password.

    MetCat Finna use

    You create your MetCat Finna account by logging in with your library card info or Metropolia id and password.

    You can e.g. renew loans, place requests for books, and save searches. You cannot access e-materials with library card login.

    MetCat Finna and other Finna services

    MetCat Finna is a local Metropolia view to the National Finna.fi service. Finna provides access to the collections of libraries, museums, and archives across Finland.

    Finna has been constructed using VuFind and other open-source software. The National Library of Finland bears the main responsibility for developing. The actual development work is carried out together with local libraries, museums and archives.

    Finna is part of the National Digital Library (NDL) project of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
